The project uses the LEAP approach to deliver a nature-related risk assessment in line with the Task Force for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). This project allows an organization to understand what information it currently has regarding its nature-related risks and opportunities, and which gaps are necessary to address nature-related impacts and to meet emerging disclosure expectations.
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is a global initiative that provides governments, businesses, and financial institutions around the world with reporting guidance regarding their impacts and dependencies on nature. The TNFD provides a framework for organizations to identify and address environmental risks and opportunities with the goal of channeling capital toward positive impacts on the natural world.
The TNFD developed an integrated approach for the assessment of nature-related issues. It is designed for use by organizations of all sizes and across all sectors and geographies. This integrated assessment approach is called the LEAP approach, or ‘LEAP’ for short (Locate, Evaluate, Assess, and Prepare).
Locate: the interface with nature
Evaluate: dependencies & impacts
Assess: risks & opportunities
Prepare: to respond & report
G&A will present a report with the results of the LEAP assessment, in preparation for potential future disclosure. This will include:
Details of moderate and high nature-related dependencies and impacts filtered by sector (if applicable) and geography.
List and/or map of ecologically sensitive locations that the company has operations in.
Details of the proportion of the business model, value chains, and capital portfolio assessed for an interface with nature.
List of material nature-related dependencies and impacts.
Analysis of dependencies and impacts on nature.
List of material nature-related risks and opportunities, mapped to a list of priority locations.
Analysis and prioritization of risks and opportunities.
