Our process

Targeted assessments and clear improvement strategies, based on our extensive experience with EcoVadis.

Talk to our experts arrow-right-blue

We review existing internal and publicly available documents, such as sustainability policies and sustainability or CDP reports, to identify actions, programs, and data that could support the EcoVadis response.

For companies that have previously submitted an EcoVadis response, we review previous responses against EcoVadis criteria, identify missing documentation, and highlight key areas for score optimization.

We gather input from internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to source additional information and documentation to support the response. From this, we help determine which questions may require additional commentary and the appropriate documentation to support those responses.

After guiding your team through the review process to obtain all necessary approvals, we upload each response with supporting documentation to the EcoVadis portal.

Customers often ask for policies, programs, data, and governance practices a company doesn’t yet have in place. Every engagement includes a prioritized plan to close those gaps. We can also help you build what’s missing, from drafting policies and designing programs and data collection tools to setting up governance and accountability. Starting this work early, ideally while the response is underway, gives new practices time to take hold so they can be documented and credited in your next assessment.

Business value

Why submit an EcoVadis response?

Value to Customers

Customer demand for supplier sustainability data is increasing, and EcoVadis is increasingly used as a data source for procurement decisions.

Recognition

Meet scoring thresholds to earn badges and medals that reflect strong performance, which can be shared privately with value chain partners or in public reporting.

An EcoVadis assessment is really a conversation with your customers about what they expect from their suppliers. The companies that get the most from it don’t stop at submitting. They use each response to build the policies, programs, and data their customers are asking for, so each response process helps to build stronger customer relationships.

Understanding the Mission

Companies can credibly demonstrate their sustainability performance across the four questionnaire themes–Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement–for customers to consider in their sourcing decisions. Companies may earn recognition for their responses through badges or medals, which can be shared in sustainability reports or other public-facing communication tools.

Many procurement teams rely on EcoVadis scores to evaluate supplier sustainability performance and guide procurement decisions. Effectively providing evidence of your company’s sustainability performance, programs and policies can help win or maintain business relationships. High scores and recognitions also differentiate companies from their peers.

Each response has different requirements for acceptable documentation. Examples of supporting documents include sustainability reports, certifications, policies, codes of conduct, and internal documentation.

The EcoVadis platform is designed for teams to collaborate on the questionnaire. Typically, these teams would include an administrator who serves as the main contact, as well as subject matter experts from across the business (e.g., HR, EHS, legal, finance) who provide information on the four themes in the questionnaire. We can provide a response tracker and help facilitate internal coordination to keep the submission on schedule.

Companies have 30 business days to submit a response after initiating the questionnaire on the EcoVadis platform. However, substantial preparatory work can happen before this period begins. G&A’s thorough process takes approximately three to four months and is strategically designed to optimize your score.

Recent, relevant, and complete supporting documentation is critical to maximizing your company’s score. We can help navigate the documentation requirements for each individual response to ensure your documentation is valid, and your response will be scored.

Yes. Every G&A EcoVadis engagement includes recommendations to close the gaps we identify, such as new or updated policies, programs, data collection systems, and governance practices. EcoVadis looks for evidence that practices are established and in use, so starting this work early, ideally while the response is underway, puts you in the strongest position for your next assessment. When you’re ready to act on the recommendations, our team can help build them, including policy development, as an additional scope of work tailored to your needs.

EcoVadis scores are based not only on the contents of your response, but how your response compares to benchmarked peers in your industry that submit responses. While G&A can’t guarantee a certain result, our extensive experience and proprietary tools will optimize your next response while leaving you with a roadmap to improve your score over time.

Let's start a conversation.
